The Tradition Continues!

For 70 years the "all volunteer" Portland Roadster Show has presented the vision and passion of the automobile and is the largest all volunteer indor show in the West Coast..  The Multnomah Hot Rod Council, formed in 1954 by Dee Wescott, community members and elected officials, is the exclusive  producer of the Portland Roadster Show.  MHRC is comprised of car clubs throughout northwest Oregon and southwest Washington and is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit.

The artistic efforts of skilled craftsmen and hobbyists will be featured through the spectacular cars, trucks and motorcycles on display. Each is painstakingly selected from hundreds of applications from around the Pacific Northwest.  You’ll also see the talent and vision of the future with our “High School Challenge” and the “automotive art” from world class professional builders.

We invite you to join “The Tradition!”

GRAND SWEEPSTAKES ROSE CUP - $5,000.00

This prestigious award is given to the highest "Overall Points" vehicle for that year's Portland Roadster Show

WORLD CUP OF HOT RODDING - $2,500.00

Recognized as the award to strive for by car builders everywhere. This award honors both the builder and owner for their creativity and building skills utilized in developing a World Class Hot Rod.

This award is reserved for 1948 and earlier roadsters, convertibles, cabriolets, coupes, sedans, and custom crafted rods.

KING OF CUSTOMS - $1,000.00

This award recognizes cars like the famous customs of Barris, Winfield, the Bailon Mercs,  along with "fat fendered" coupes of the 40's. The terms you will most often hear associated with these automobiles are "frenched, nosed, decked, channeled, chopped and tuck & roll".  We honor these works of automotive creativity with the "King of Customs" Award. Contenders for this award will be vehicles  from 1941 to 1972. Most will feature radical body modifications and special attention to detail.

IMPORT CAR OF THE YEAR - $1,500.00

Sponsored by Fast Specialties, "The Import Award" is intended to recognize the new and upcoming modern hot rod fueled by the next generation of tuning and performance enthusiasts. This award recognizes the extra mile that is put into creating these modern performance machines. Some in this class may be Japanese domestic manufactured vehicles, sourced from the other side of the globe.

MUSCLE CAR OF THE YEAR - $1,500.00

Sponsored by Campbell Auto Appraisal, The "Muscle Car Award" celebrates the American traditional class from the 50s, 60s and beyond. This class dominated the street scene in that period, where horsepower was king and the driver's skills were critical for successful top performance. The contenders of this award will be vehicles manufactured from 1941 to 1972.

 WEST COAST KUSTOMS - $1,500.00

This is awarded to the artist who demonstrated painstaking levels of detail in their build, creating a masterpiece that showcases creativity, introduction of the newest build techniques, and a nod to the tradition of hot rodding.

BILL PETERSON AWARD - $500.00

The Best “All Steel” 1932 Ford.

 Builder of the Year

Presented by the Portland Roadster Show, this award honors a builder whose projects over the past year have earned exceptional recognition—bringing major attention to the Pacific Northwest custom car community and achieving top awards at the Portland Roadster Show as well as other nationally acclaimed events.
